I unfortunately did not receive my invitation to fashion week 2 weeks ago, so like the many other fashion savvy New Yorkers, I had to look to the New York Times (among other sources) to experience that front row excitement. Eric Wilson, from the Times was right there for it all though, and a show that seemed to put a smile on his face was Anna Sui’s “whimsical” production. Her spring 2012 collection held on to the audience’s attention with the 1970s Paris Club Sept theme. Chiffon trousers, long lace dresses and floppy hats and turbans took over the runway, with a soft girly look and “witty prints”, as Eric Wilson puts it. The purples and reds popped on the catwalk, going along with the fun and playful collection that proved to be contemporary even with the strong theme portrayed. Anna Sui “keeps the history of seventh avenue alive” says Eric Wilson. This collection reaches that youthful audience that isnt afraid to play with fashion and enjoys mixing prints and colors. Its just a real fun collection in which Anna Sui's personality and flair shine through in every look.
This dress below has a quirky print, that looks like stripes from afar, but are actually toothbrushes.
