#3 New York Times

I unfortunately did not receive my invitation to fashion week 2 weeks ago, so like the many other fashion savvy New Yorkers, I had to look to the New York Times (among other sources) to experience  that front row excitement.  Eric Wilson, from the Times was right there for it all though, and a show that seemed to put a smile on his face was Anna Sui’s “whimsical” production. Her spring 2012 collection held on to the audience’s attention with the 1970s Paris Club Sept theme. Chiffon trousers, long lace dresses and floppy hats and turbans took over the runway, with a soft girly look and “witty prints”, as Eric Wilson puts it. The purples and reds popped on the catwalk, going along with the fun and playful collection that proved to be contemporary even with the strong theme portrayed.  Anna Sui “keeps the history of seventh avenue alive” says Eric Wilson. This collection reaches that youthful audience that isnt afraid to play with fashion and enjoys mixing prints and colors. Its just a real fun collection in which Anna Sui's personality and flair shine through in every look.

This dress below has a quirky print, that looks like stripes from afar, but are actually toothbrushes.

# 2 Key Item for Fall

Knee Length Skirts:Fall 2012 is a return to classic, lady-like dressing. A sophistication amongst fashionon the horizon and that can be seen through the knee length skirts that will be a popular item for Fall 2012. This hem length emphasizes a grown-up attitude, with a girly and feminine flair. It is a chic hemline that is both appropriate for all occasions and also flattering on all body types. Going with a knee length skirt allows you to mix and match and create many different looks.

We can see a reference to the style icon, Grace Kelly in the above designs by Donna Karen and Carolina Herrera. The elegant look also shows off that hour glass figure that every girl wants to flaunt.

This knee length dress that was seen on the runway of Erdem, was later worn by the always classy, Reese Witherspoon, whose style is the essence of lady-like.

This Chanel look is the epitome of next year's feminine, sophisticated trend. Aside from the knee length hemline, the peplum jacket will also be a upcoming trend. It shows off the womanly shape and is a classic statement that is beginning to reemerge.

Minimal, Clean Line Handbags:
Fall 2012 handbags will no longer be the "bag that carrys everything." The handbag trend for next year with be modern minimalism. They will have minimal details with clean lines. Handbags will have a very boxy, rectangular look to them. They will be simple and in neutral colors, which allow them to compliment many different outfits and occasions. Keep all your fun, vibrant handbags though, cause those crazy handbags are what makes accesorizing so much fun!

#1 Fashion Blog

The Style Bubble was created by blogger Susanna Lau, or better known as Susie Bubble. Her blog is an ode to personal style and is full of her youthful  and endearing observations on fashion. With a focus on highlighting young, up and coming designers, Susie showcases unknown talent in her own quirky style. http://stylebubble.typepad.com/
Susie describes her style as sporadic and a kaleidoscope of things she is exposed to. She is a fan of mixing different elements, whether its vintage and modern or European and Asian.
Susie  had the chance to edit the Oxford Circus' Topshop and give customer's an idea of how Susie would put certain pieces together.

Jessica Quirk is the creator of the blog, What I Wore. Her blog encompasses daily outfit pictures in which she cites when every piece is from. Jessica also explains why she wore what she did. Aside from her daily outfit posts, she has "DIY" page, with simple projects to do on your own, a "Blogger Swap" page, where she borrows pieces from other bloggers and a "Jessica Sews" page, with outfits she has made herself. Jessica has also wrote a book that is a collection of recipes for personal style. http://whatiwore.tumblr.com/post/8694020824
Jessica's style is similar to what I would wear, and I think that's what drew me to her. It's put together, girly and chic.
One of Jessica's DIY projects was to turn that boring old black umbrella you have in your closet, into a fun, vintage inspired accessory.
